COTTON
SEED OIL
Cotton
seed, like sunflower, corn or soyabean, is an interesting
source of lipids in many aspects.
Among regular oils globally used in food preparations,
cottonseed oil is considered as one of the 'reference'
oils for assessing the quality of other oils, officially
by AOCS (American Oil Chem Society). It is also
considered as one month the premi um oils in the world
market (such as olive oil, corn oil, etc).
Cottonseed oil has essential fatty acids in a balanced
mixture, an excellent source of linoleic acid, which is
an essential fat to increase resistance to infections
and dehydration, it is rich in vitamins (especially,
Vitamin D)
Cottonseed oil has a balanced cholesterol configuration.
There are two types of lipoproteins, namely LDL
and HDL. The Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) will
carry cholesterol out of the liver to all tissues of the
body, resulting in high inciden ce of heart disease. On
the other hand, the High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) transports
cholesterol from the peripheral tissues back into the
liver and later dispose them as bile acids. Thus, an appropriate
mix of LDL and HDL is necessary in edible oil. The se
oils are said to contain PUFA (Poly Unsaturated
Fatty Acids). Cottonseed oil is thus a very valuable dietary
fat substitute.
Presently, most of the needs of the population of Republic
of Benin for edible oil are covered by import (mainly
palm oil) from the sub region and even from the Far East.
Fludor Benin will be able to provide a substitute to these
imports, with a superior, health effective, product.

PELLETS
The factory has de-oiled meal or pellets as the major
by-products. The cottonseed pellets have high demand
in cattle feed preparation in South Africa and in Europe.
The pellets from the West African francophone region
are considered to be of superior qual ity in the world
market and known to contain aflatoxin and gossypol content
well within acceptable limits.
